Looking to the Future
American Theological Library Association, ATLA, is a national assocation of member theological librarys and institions. Since it's inception it has catalogued and indexed a number of academic journals and resources for it's membership and the general public. Using a series of systems, the staff of ATLA indexes, images, and stores over a 1 TB of data.
We were asked by ATLA to help them in developing a better understanding of their current systems, and assemble a Request For Information in the selection of an integrated Content Management System. Over the course of several months, we interviewed their staff, and audited their technology portfolio to identify needs and requirements for CMS that would futher empower their mission.
In delivering our findings we produced a master infographic to help staff understand the organizational workflow, and identify bottlenecks. The end result allowed ATLA to move forward with a better understanding of how each department interacted with entire workflow, and identified key fuctions and needs for the new system.
With ATLA's support we published our innovative approach to mapping organizatioal workflow in January's issue of Forums Magazine, a national publication for Assocation and Membership organizations. Article (pdf)
