Promotional Management Group, PMG, is a leading Hispanic Marketing Agency based out of San Antonio, Texas and a sales/marketing office in Chicago. Due to the distance PMG staff were collaborating on everything from marketing collateral for clients to sales presentation over the network.
Working with other IT vendors, PMG faced expensive capital and ongoing costs to provide their users with improved connections between the two offices. Previous IT vendors had left them frustrated and a network that was getting extremely slow.
We consulted with PMG and researched options for WAN acceleration and distributed network solutions. Our research identified a Riverbed Network appliance that not only improved the site to site throughput, but was able to do so over a DSL to T1 VPN, keeping monthly costs low. Additionally, changes were made to their Windows Active Directory, and DFS architecture to allow each site to act independently in the event of a connect failure.
The end result was a network with two sites that were able to transfer files quickly and effectively. Powerpoint presentation that had taken overnight to move, can now be opend within seconds. A faster network also meant faster login times, and no delays in email and Internet access.
